Finding a Bible that Doesn't Hurt the Wallet
Thrift Stores
It might seem obvious, but thrift stores are an excellent place to go on a bible hunt. They often are more robust in construction, and more feature rich than economy or outreach bibles sold online. As an added bonus, occasionally the previous owner's time spent studying shows up in them. Seeing what another person saw to be worth underlining, writing in the margin, or what kinds of encouragement they'd written themselves on the inside cover can be an adventure of its own. Comfort can also be taken in the fact that one is not alone in their need for God.
Ebay
The same quality/price ratio tends to hold true for used listings on Ebay. They are often sold in stacks of 4 or 5, even 10 bibles at a time, which is nice if you have several people to provide them for at once, or if you like to take a look at a few in-hand and make a choice.
Buy New: Economy Paperbacks
As mentioned briefly before, 'economy bible', 'outreach bible', and similar search terms will yield results, and lots of them. Be aware that most often the size of the text itself, for some eyes, can be a challenge. If they list the font size, you can generally expect:
6 or 7 to be quite small
9 or 10 to be a medium size, and
11 or 12 to be quite large.
Buy New: Three Quick Inexpensive Options
Time spent in research, finding out why certain bibles are so expensive and what makes one different from another may be something you're quite interested in, but for those who aren't, below are linked three well priced, decent bibles (relatively large print, flexible faux-leather type cover, not gigantic while not pocket sized) sold new in online stores.
